The current consciousness that we are living in is a world where our worth is quantifiable. Even the term ‘Net Worth’ measures how much external value we have, as opposed to internal value – the higher the ‘net worth’, the higher the perceived achievement. ‘Net worth’ does not take into account how it was achieved – with integrity or without; with love or without. It only takes into account how much material value we have.
Our entire lives revolve around money – what we do to earn it, to pay our bills, to put a roof over our heads, to put food into our bellies, to quench our thirst. Our very survival is now quantifiable and reduced to money. Many of us spend a considerable amount of time doing what makes us stressed, sometimes angry or mind numbing, to earn a living to survive. It is considered a luxury to spend our time doing what we love or are passionate about – that only a minority are free enough to enjoy.
In this time of change, as we move towards a new consciousness, it is time to start thinking differently about investing in our selves, in ‘I AM’.
I have a dear friend, who is a very talented leather artisan, with whom I share similar interests and hobbies. At the start of this year, we agreed on an exchange, which was totally grounded in mutual respect and consideration for one another, as well as a shared love and appreciation in our common interests. It is by far the best exchange I had done in a long time. What this taught me is that when the currency of trade is joy and love, with consideration and mutual respect, in full resonance of ‘I AM’, the transaction just fills the heart and soul, and is wonderful.
The love and joy we feel, and the resonance with ‘I AM’ is much more valuable than anything that a quantifiable exchange can provide. This is the start towards investing in self – in ‘I AM’.
There is a big difference between investing in Ego, and investing in ‘I AM’. Ego investments fall along the lines of ‘how much more’ – How much more can I have? How much more have I over the Joneses? How much more do I need to make up my Net worth? Investing in Ego is quantifiable.
Investing in ‘I AM’, on the other hand, does not take into account of how much more – quantifiable. It takes into account the quality. Does this investment give me joy? Does this investment make me happy – deep within ‘I AM’? Does this investment resonate with ‘I AM’? Investing in ‘I AM’ is qualitative.
How do we move from working to survive to investing in ‘I AM’?
Let us start with a series of little steps :
Invest in ‘I AM’… are we not worth it?
2016 is proving to be a year of many changes and transitions for so many. We can see this at a Macro level – politically in Europe and the United States – status quo is being questioned and new mindsets are being forged. There is a higher number of online petitions rallying global support for campaigns against corporatocracy and higher utilisation of Social Media to spread messages that are contrary to that that is spread by the mainstream media. More celebrities have transitioned since the beginning of this year than other years. We can definitely see a tangible change and shift at the Macro level.
At a personal level, big changes are occurring for everyone. It could be with your career, your home, family situation – with anything really. With change comes fear – fear of the new and unfamiliar.
‘I AM’ Safe.
‘I AM’ is that steady beating pulse of the Divine within us – that remains constant and strong. ‘I AM’ is the blueprint of our Self, and is the map of our Being. By embodying and embracing ‘I AM’ we are automatically in Harmony and in Flow with our Purpose of Being. In Being aligned with our Purpose of Being, there is nothing to fear.
‘I AM’ Safe.
Fear is a mindset – created by our minds and conditioned beliefs. Fear has been used through the centuries to convince us that we need outside help to keep us safe. It’s been used by leaders to keep the masses under the control of their rhetoric. It’s been used by certain industries to create a need for their services and products. Uncertainty, anxiety and worry is based on us projecting thoughts to the past and future, and perceiving them to be real.
“The root cause of fear – is estrangement from Self” – Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj.
When we get re-acquainted with ‘I AM’ and embody Self, we automatically tune out all conditioned limiting beliefs that we are constantly bombarded with. We reach within and realise that ‘I AM’ is unlimited and is perfect. Drawing from our ‘I AM’ self, all decisions, actions and motivation come from a place of our true purpose of Being. Then, we are fearless – no matter what the circumstance is.
‘I AM’ Safe.
The greatest examples of proponents of change at a Macro level, embraced their Purpose of Being and were Fearless in their quest for change. Mahatma Ghandi, Aung San Suu Kyi, The Suffragettes, and countless others who kept on course to affect change fearlessly, even when confronted with seemingly frightening and insurmountable obstacles.
At a personal level, there are millions of examples and these heroes are all around us. They are our friends, family members, colleagues – and even ourselves. Anybody who has fearlessly moved through change to embrace their dreams and meet their goals is a hero.
‘I AM’ Safe.
It is time now, in the present, to embrace our True Purpose of Being.
Embody your ‘I AM’ and approach your self with reverence and love.
Deny yourself nothing, and reach out now and grab your dreams.
